Rain Drops Cream for Faces: Barrier Repair + Hyaluronic Acid Multiplex

$39.00

*** Returning customers: You’ll notice a shift in the aroma. This is due to the nature of essential oils, they can vary in intensity from batch to batch depending on many factors related to growing conditions, when and where the plants were collected, etc. As a result, you’ll notice that the aroma of Rain Drops has changed a bit. The helichrysum and rose are more noticeable now, while the Bisabolol is less so. The ratios remain the same. I hope you love it!

My Rain Drops cream is loaded with barrier repair compounds, critical Natural Moisture Factors (NMF), four dimensional Hyaluronic Acid Multiplex (HA), humectants, skin identical ceramides, vitamins, Aloe and more.

Rain Drops is a creamy moisturizer for our face and decollete which helps resolve the feeling of persistently parched, dehydrated, tight skin!

The aroma is soothing and calming to the senses, a lightly floral blend of Rose, Helichrysum and Bisabolol (which you have never heard of, but you’ll be glad you do now).

Rain Drops is also soothing and calming for our skin. Luxurious, surprisingly light for a cream, absorbing almost instantly with just the right amount of emollience. Providing hydration and locking in moisture, rich in naturally occurring barrier repair compounds to help support and recover the Acid Mantle with a pH of 4.5.

Now with Supercritical C02 Extracted Sea Buckthorn seed oil (which I’m now adding this to many of my formulation for it’s powerful antioxidant properties.

n-Bisabolol is one of the most powerful skin soothing essential oils and natural penetration enhancers we know of. It’s anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-irritant, anti-fungal and non-allergenic, AND promotes tissue regeneration. Extracted through direct steam distillation from plants rich in Bisabolol, this essential oil has been been treating irritable skin conditions and helping relieve the itch and discomfort associated with dehydrated skin for hundreds, if not thousands of years. A very obscure essential oil with a light floral aroma, it’s considered one of our “ancient perfumes”.

Our skin produces its own Natural Moisturizing Factors (NMFs):

NMFs support healthy skin, in part, because of their humectant properties—meaning they draw water like a magnet down into the top layers of our skin, the stratum corneum. When this layer is fully saturated, our skin feels hydrated and appears healthier, replenished, and youthful. Healthy adult skin should contain about 20 to 30% NMF in dry weight (total weight without water).

NMF is created by our amazing bodies through a biological protein recycling program that magically converts amino acids, fatty acids, triglycerides, and water-soluble humectants present in our skin into NMFs. Native NMFs include ceramides, phospholipids, glycerin, and hyaluronic acid. These building blocks of NMF are also those amazing humectants, aka water magnets.

The bad news? We lose our precious NMFs in different ways: product choice, modern routines, climatic conditions, and the passage of time, are the primary cause of loss of NMF and dehydrated skin symptoms. As time marches on our skin simply makes less and less of it! So there’s that. But we also challenge our skin with routines, product choices, skin care habits, and lifestyle choices.

The good news! We have the means to replenish these vital compounds at the surface.

We can provide our skin with NMFs on the surface. From there, they’re drawn down into the top layers and incorporated into the skin matrix, where they contribute to maintaining dermal moisture and the healthy glow we all love.

With daily use, and a supportive skin care regiment, Rain Drops provides loads of nutrients and Natural Moisture Factor (NMF) which can help restore the Acid Mantle (AKA Moisture Barrier).

What do we mean by “DRY SKIN”?

We often confuse “dry skin” with “dehydrated skin”. Most of us have normal skin, meaning we have the normal amount of oil producing pores over our entire body. We tend to notice our parched skin on our extremities and face due mostly to our lifestyle needs and to wash away bad germs from our hands.

Time and habits contribute to the loss of skin hydration, reduction in the amount of Natural Moisture Factors, and natural oils present in our skin.

Over time, our skin produces less oils and NMF. It feels drier, the texture changes, and we notice the passage of time.

For women, as we approach and pass menopause we’ll have lost an alarming amount of our Natural Moisturizing Factor (NMF) and produce much less skin oils.

Routine and product choice play a big role in how our skin ages. For most adults suffering from a loss of skin oils and native Moisturizing Factors we can deliver these compounds on the surface with well formulated skincare.

How and when, and with what we wash with is another top determining factor. Adopting skin friendly habits and routines can have a dramatic impact on our skin health and bring relief to those suffering from chronic, persistent, parched, tight, dehydrated skin.

What are some of the ways we lose NMF and SKIN OILS? Digging deeper

  • The aging process.

  • Harsh climates/weather.

  • Exposure to harsh synthetic chemicals synthetic detergents, soap and skin care.

  • Exposure to synthetic FRAGRANCE (#1 cause of indoor allergies and contact dermatitis).

  • Exposure to chemically treated hot tubs and pools.

  • Skin care habits, products and routines which strip natural oils and disrupt skin pH.

  • Over bathing, washing, scrubbing; These habits do not allow enough time for the Acid Mantle to restore itself after being washed away while bathing. Restoration of the Acid Mantle takes 8-24 hours so it often gets rinsed away again before it has time to recover. The primary symptoms that this is happening is skin which feels tight, parched and dehydrated at the surface.

  • Certain medications, skin disorders and underlying disease: diabetes, hypothyroidism, Histamine intolerance, MAST Cell Activation Syndrome (all well beyond the scope of this conversation) but which should be considered when skin conditions become more severe.

  • Nutrient density of the diet and Gut health.

  • The landscape and balance of your skin microbes - our skin microbiome.

In many situations, with all things held equal, it’s entirely possible to create enough healing space to completely resolve the majority of issues associated with skin surface dehydration.

Topical application of lotions and creams can help to create healing space and alleviate some or most symptoms. Those with mild conditions and normal skin, can get complete relief and resolution of parched dry skin with simple changes in habits and eliminating products which are damaging the skin barrier.

The deeper root cause of “dry, itchy, flaky skin” should be considered if your condition is not resolving, gets worse again after adopting a more skin friendly routine and products, or if you experience unexplained allergic skin reactions.

This discussion is beyond the scope of this product listing, and the information found here should not be considered medical advice. Please consult a dermatologist. That said, I do suggest that dermatologist prescribed steroid creams, with prolonged use, can do more harm than good. So if you ever find the need to resort to a steroid cream, try minimizing it by using it to alleviate acute, painful symptoms, then ease back onto gentle, natural products as soon as possible, like Rain Drops.

What is Alpha (a) Bisabolol: a-Bisabolol is also known as levomenol, a natural monocyclic aromatic terpene. It’s the primary constituent of German chamomile essential oil. Bisabolol is a powerful agent for our skin:

  • Anti-inflammatory - reduces redness, swelling, pain

  • Antipruritic - reduces itch

  • Penetration enhancer: Bisabolol is well absorbed and enhances the absorption of other ingredients, greatly increasing the effectiveness of a lotion or cream.

  • Anti-oxidant: reduces oxidative stress on skin tissue

  • Speeds healing of sunburn, mild burns, wounds, and skin irritation

  • Reduces the chance of scarring by speeding the healing of wounds and blemishes.

  • Anti-microbial: effective against staph, epidermidis, and corynebacteria, Candida albicans

  • Inhibits the break down collagen and stimulates collagen production helping soften and smooth skin texture, reducing the formation of fine lines.

  • A natural skin brightener by Inhibiting melanin synthesis and combating hyperpigmentation, may protect from skin cancer.

  • Decreases trans-epidermal water loss, increasing skin hydration and elasticity.
