  • Alpha (a) Bisabolol is also known as levomenol, a natural monocyclic aromatic terpene. It’s the primary constituent of German chamomile essential oil, renown for it’s skin soothing properties.

I only use NATRUAL Bisabolol in my products, steam distilled from the bark of a tree. It is considered safe for everyone including babies and shown to be:

    • Anti-inflammatory - reducing redness, swelling, pain.

    • Antipruritic - reducing itch

    • Penetration enhancer: Bisabolol is well absorbed and enhances the absorption of other ingredients, greatly increasing the effectiveness of a lotion or cream.

    • Anti-oxidant: reduces oxidative stress on skin tissue.

    • Speeds healing of sunburn, mild burns, wounds, and skin irritation

    • Reduces the chance of scarring by speeding the healing of wounds and blemishes.

    • Anti-microbial: effective against staph, epidermidis, and corynebacteria, Candida albicans

    • Inhibits the break down collagen and stimulates collagen production helping soften and smooth skin texture, reducing the formation of fine lines.

    • A natural skin brightener by Inhibiting melanin synthesis and combating hyperpigmentation, may protect from skin cancer.

    • Decreases trans-epidermal water loss, increasing skin hydration and elasticity.

  • Natural Moisture Factors (NMF) are not a single substance, rather NMFs are a complex of water soluble humectants naturally occurring in our skin and created by our own amazing bodies in a biologic protein recycling program involving amino acids, fatty acids, triglycerides, ceramides, phospholipids, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, etc.

NMF = Humectants. They draw water from the environment like a bee drinks up nectar.

Healthy adult skin should contain about 20% - 30% naturally occurring NMF. When the skin barrier is disturbed we lose NMF. NMF are available as naturally derived ingredients too and are a vital component of effective skin care.

We all should be aware of the importance of NMF. Delver deeper HERE.

  • Squalane is naturally present in our skin and is naturally derived from olive oil. It is renown for its’ ability to soak in almost instantly and is extremely resistant to rancidity.

    Will not clog pores.

Soothe and softens dry, rough skin and reduce redness and irritation.

Helps the skin retain moisture by creating a sealing in dermal moisture and helping prevent evaporation of dermal moisture.

    Helps protect against external irritants.

Helps restore the concentration of natural squalene present in healthy skin.

It’s also a natural antioxidant with antitumor properties helping protect from carcinogens.

All Over Lotion - really?

Absolutely! The differences between a body lotion and a facial lotion often comes down to … MARKETING - of course! And while body lotions and facial lotion CAN be different this is not always the case. For instance, body creams and moisturizers can sometimes be thicker, more emollient and more occlusive (but not always!) Facial moisturizers can sometimes be lighter and enhanced with high end active ingredients (but not always!).

All Over Delicate Skin Lotion is a soothing, hydrating lotion for delicate facial skin AND perfectly suited for your hands AND all over as a body lotion! No kidding!

So go ahead … slather it on every square inch of your dermis anytime.

DIGGING DEEPER … but still just scratching the surface:

What is Sensitive Skin?

Sensitive skin is a very common issue. “Dry skin” and “sensitive skin” are the most common complaints I hear from my customers. Both of these conditions are a sign of some degree of impairment to the Acid Mantle, aka moisture barrier.

“Sensitive skin” generally refers to skin which is prone to inflammation from an allergen or an underlying health issue (beyond the scope of this discussion).

The cause of the inflammation will differ for each person. Eczema and hives, are both related to allergies and are two of the most common types of skin irritation and rashes. Common allergens include skincare products and makeup which contain drying alcohols, dyes, synthetic fragrances, and/or certain chemicals.

Finding what triggers your irritation and avoiding them can help reduce sensitivities.

Symptoms of sensitive skin may include:

  • eczema

  • hives

  • red patches

  • rashes that may itch, sting, or burn

  • itching, stinging or burning without a visible rash

  • sunburn

  • contact dermatitis

  • atopic dermatitis (eczema)

  • parched, tight, dehydrate skin (what we call dry skin)

More causes of sensitive skin: your skincare habits and routine …

How we cleanse, moisturize, and exfoliate impacts skin health and is often at the root of sensitive and dry skin issues.

This is actually GOOD NEWS! Because it means there’s a good chance that with some simple changes to the routine and products you can improve the situation or resolve it completely!

Most us are not aware of the fact that our skin is adapted to never coming into contact with water! Bathing removes vital skin compounds from the skin’s surface which are needed to keep the skin healthy and seal in dermal moisture. But that doesn’t suit our lifestyles so …

Here are a few ways proven to support strong, resilient skin for hands and body and help meet the biological needs of our skin:

  • NO HOT WATER! Only warm never hot - seriously.

  • Reduce contact with water if you can stand it! 3 times a week MAX! If you need to bathe more often consider only using “soap” 3 times a week, and just rinsing in warm water the other times. Reduce the time you spend bathing to 5 or 10 minutes.

  • Only wash your body with REAL SOAP (natural oil soap) and only use it on your stinky parts! Do not use soap anywhere else, just use a wet washcloth.

  • Blot your skin gently dry with a towel.

  • Slather on the moisturizer immediately after drying off. Never let your skin dry to the point that you experience that “tight feeling”. Keep this lotion close and slather it on every square inch, including your face, to seal in all that moisture your skin absorbed while bathing.
